Graphics looks better than other AoE games, but it doesn't run well. Other than the combat and gameplay, AoE4 seems fairly generic to me. The game's core gameplay loop is easy to follow and execute, but I found myself annoyed at the animations, which I suppose is the intent of the game - you take a conscious decision to make yourself vulnerable when issuing new orders to units.Īlthough the combat is enjoyable, something about the small civilization list made me actually miss the large number of civilizations from past Age of Empires games, and there is very little teamplay going on in 2v2.
